Collection of Max Ernst prints, 1912-1974.

The library's collection, assembled by and acquired from Ernst O. E. Fischer, consists of 164 separate sheets of prints, and 1 portfolio of 22 prints. Ernst's total print production, including separate sheets, frontispieces from books and illustrations in books written by him and others, numbers over 500 works. The present collection is far from complete, but constitutes a comprehensive selection of the artist's graphic oeuvre and includes a number of unique examples. Books received with this collection, many of which include original prints, have been separated from the collection and placed in the repository's library.
